A new face

Lately I've been on the look for a new foundation. My current one is Mary Kay's Medium-Coverage Foundation. I've been using it for about 3 years now and I've always liked it, it covers well and you don't have to fiddle with it much.
I decided to try Revlon Colorstay Mineral Mousse. I was looking for something light and with good coverage for my uneven skin tone. This foundation is very light and it covers easily. I was worried that because it was a mousse that it would be too thin and not hide anything. To my surprise it does cover well and I can build on coverage, I just let it dry a bit before applying the next layer. It also adapts well to my skin color even with the second layer.
The only thing I have to say is not to use this product if you don't exfoliate and moisturize regularly, because it will show. I kinda expected because it is a matte mousse and many matte products will show those types of imperfections.
Over all, I liked the this product, it's made me more aware of the need to exfoliate and to moisturize on a regular basis, especially now in these colder months. I'm still keeping my Mary Kay foundation for these winter months and use the mousse in the warmer days, or switch it up every once in a while.

Find of the day

We were out and about this past Sunday, when we decided to stop by at our local Ross. It literally had been years since we had set foot in a Ross. I wasn't looking for anything in particular, but I just had in the back of my mind a photo album that I desperately need. It wasn't even 10 minutes later that my sister and I found them.

There were two sets of 3 Borghese colors for $4.99 each. So we took both of them. They usually retail for about $4-8 individually in stores. So to us it was a really cool deal. So here are the colors we got from left to right:
  •  Mezzanotte Blue (B360)- awesome shimmery deep navy blue
  • Duro Clear (B111)- clear
  • Tangelo Sherbert (B205)- shimmery peach
  • Bellissima Rose (B310)-fushia
  • Bella Berry (B196)- shimmery deep purple
I'm wearing Bellissima Rose right now and I LOVE it. The color isn't flashy and it works great with my skin tone. We only got one repeat in the bunch and that was the Tangelo Sherbert. This is funny because its the one color I know I cant pull off.

Its been a few days since i applied the polish and so far no chips or peeling, all thanks to my OPI Acrylic Base Coat. So thanks Ross! even though I didn't find that photo album.

My other joy in life

Since i was a kid, I always liked to collect small things. Sometimes it was coins or key chains and I can't even remember what other stuff. But for the most part I just hung on to stuff. I stopped doing all that a long time ago and I don't know where half that stuff is. Now when I watch the A&E show Hoarders, I think that I might have had a little tiny problem. I laugh at it now, but I really think I did. But I'm ok now, I think. :)

Main page on postcardx.net
My love of postcards must have started some time in high school. This was a bit before Facebook an Myspace. There were a few Yahoo groups about postcards, but the main thing was trading slams, decos or ATC's. Then there was postcardx.net. I don't remember which set of clicks brought me to this site, but since that day I've been hooked. postcardx.net was a super simple site where you would set up a tiny profile no pictures just basic info, name, age and mailing address. You had one of four options, 1)send something to a random person, 2) talk about it, this was a small forum,  3) add yourself, or 4) if you wanted to send someone thing to someone using key words on there profile you would put it in the search box or if you wanted to look for some one in particular or yourself so you could modify your profile. It was based on the honor system. You could add anything to your profile and so could anyone else. I received about a dozen + post cards from the lovely people of this site. Each one unique. One my profile, I asked them to write a story about their childhood and most of them did, others would just write about the card they sent or about where they lived.

Unfortunately, postcardx.net is no longer around. so i set out to look for a postcard trading site that was legit. You know, now a days with all the insecurity you can't just post your info anywhere. So after a while of looking on the web, i turned to Facebook. There are few pages dedicated to post-carding, I even found a postcardx.net page. Finally I Found it! Postcrossing- The postcard crossing project. The link to their Facebook page is this: Postcrossing so you can add them on Facebook or go to their website from there. You sign up, give them your info, you then have the option to send someone a postcard. The data base gives you the info of another person anywhere in the world (go to the website for all the info). This site is the most secure I've found. And just to top it all off, the site is so popular in Europe that they even commissioned a stamp for them.

Its been one of the most wonderful experiences I've had. I love getting home and seeing what i got in my mailbox.

My first Postcrossing stamp from the Netherlands

A lovely postcard from The Netherlands
I LOVE the pc!! it's from a lovely family in the states
Stamp from the Czech Republic

From Finland

Stamps from Russia

These are just some of the cool stuff that I've gotten. I love doing this because you know that the person took the time to look at your profile, and write to you. Its all just wonderful to me.

The Dueling Brushes

Revlon Double Twist waterproof mascara
Hey, OK so I've given it a lot of thought and here is what i think about this new mascara that i found. i bought this at one of the CVS's around where i live. It's Revlon Double Twist Waterproof Mascara in 01 Blackest Black. it retails for about $13.50, but it was on sale for 75% off and came out to a total of $3.37. YAY! I wasn't really looking for a new mascara, but i couldn't let a good offer go by.

 My Estee Lauder Mascara
I normally use Estee Lauder More Than Mascara in 01 Rich Black. I LOVE this mascara!! One of the best I've tried and I've been using it for years (not the same one of course). This mascara dispenses just the right amount of mascara so that it doesn't clump the lashes. It applies easily and separates the lashes. This is the most important thing about a mascara for me, mainly because I don't have a lot of lashes and if they clump up then it looks like i have none.

Revlon-First time out of container
Ok, so back to Revlon. The brush has two types of bristles. One is your standard mascara bristle and one is a plastic comb (its the red part of the brush head). This is supposed to separate the lashes so the normal brush can apply the product. In theory. What I found was when you pulled the brush out of the container, it was just a hot mess. I think that its because it new, and there is was too much product on the brush. There is really only one thing to do. You have to scrape off the excess product on the mouth of the container, and make sure you get the excess off the tip. The reason why this is a problem for me is that I'm always in a hurry to go to work and takes a few minutes too long. When i do apply i have to be careful which side I'm using. Even after I scrape off the excess, there is still a lot trapped on the red plastic bristles and that just clumps up my lashes. I really have to get it right in the first few strokes that way i avoid clumps and "crumbs" on my lashes; little bits of product that somehow end up on my lashes.

The good thing about this is that it really  hold a curl. I have strait lashes, a lash curler is my best friend. The problem with the other mascaras that I have wandering around is that they take too long to dry and I lose the curl. I use them when i want thicker lashes, like when I go out (I use them after I apply a coat of the Estee Lauder More Than Mascara).

It holds my my lashes in place all day and there is no flaking. When you use it properly, it does work. Maybe not like how they make out in the commercials, but it does its basic job. I was lucky I didn't pay full price for it. On a scale of 1-5, 1 being poor buy and 5 being Great buy i would give it a 2.5 for now. For me it takes a bit too much time to get moderate results. But maybe it will grow on me.

We should have taken that right turn in Albuquerque.....

color :Milano Taupe

The first things that we want to share is the amazing nail polish that we got all the way from California. There are three of us girls so we go through nail polish like crazy, and we have very very different taste in colors and brands, but there are a few that we all agree on.

We all love this polish or lacquer from Borghese Luxury Nail Care. We have been looking for this product here but with no luck. It's one of the few polishes that glides on with almost no effort or error. What makes that possible is the liquid its self. It's not as thick as other polishes (that doesn't mean that it wont cover your nail) so its easier to spread and doesn't clump. For me one coat is good. There is a lightness to the color, but rather have two coats so the color is shown off more.

The main thing that makes this different from all the polishes is the Duale Curve Tip Brush. This brush is flat, wider and curved at the tip so it only takes a few strokes to deliver the polish all over the nail. This brush is awesome!! I have curved cuticles so the brush fits perfectly at the base of my nail and covers them in only two strokes.
And finally, its durability is great. granted i always us OPI's Acrylic Nail Base before putting on any polish. This base will extend the life of your polish. As of today, I've been wearing the base coat and polish for full week, there is no chipping. The only thing is you can start to see the nail growth if i were it for longer then a week and a slight recession on the tips of my nail, but still no chipping.

I have here the website : Borghese Luxury Nail Care. One of its great features is that it allows you to see how the colors will look on you depending of your skin tone. Just go to Nail Care Protucts > Classic Nail Lacquer > Explore Color Options under the picture of the polish, and choose your color and the polish you want to see.
